Ginny Tonkin is a digital communications professional with a passion for exploring new cultures and new media. Currently, she’s exploring China, living in Beijing, and learning Mandarin.
Currently, she’s working at Edelman in Beijing.
Prior to China, she worked at GoErie.com out of the CyberInk office as Community Engagement Coordinator and a multimedia reporter for events in Erie, PA. There she managed a niche UGC publication, produced videos, and utilized social and multimedia to cover events. She was active in broadcast and Internet radio in college.
She’s lived, studied, and worked in five countries, including the USA, India, Australia, Vietnam, and now China.
At Principia College, home of a generous study abroad program, she studied in India, and then in Australia. In India in 2007, centered in Udaipur, Rajasthan, she studied hindi language, and local Indian history and culture from a sociological perspective. In Australia in 2009, she interned at the public relations firm, Red Agency in sunny Sydney.
After college, she flew to Vietnam, where she lived in Ho Chi Minh City, teaching English and exploring South East Asia. Vietnam will always hold a very special place in her heart.
Now, she’s excited to explore Beijing, and get to know China and its people a little bit better.
Ginny loves staying active, swimming, running, doing yoga, cooking, baking, and taking too many cellphone photos of food. Fun fact: In high school, she was a huge speech and debate nerd, and won first place in the Pennsylvania High School Speech League for radio announcing.
She’d love to get in touch, so drop her a line on Twitter, LinkedIn, or email at ginnytonkin (at) gmail (dot) com.
